Training for EGH disaster volunteers

TURA, Oct 17: A training programme for the third phase upscaling of Aapda Mitra Volunteers under National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), organised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Garo Hills kicked off on Monday at the DRDA Hall II in Williamnagar.
The training, which will continue for a period of 12 days, aims to empower the volunteers with basic relief and rescue skills during emergency situations.
The training will conclude on November 2.
Additional Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, DDMA, A Ch Marak, in his inaugural speech, urged the volunteers to equip themselves with technical knowhow and to prepare for consequences of any disaster whether man-made or natural which could happen anytime.
