SHILLONG, Oct 18: Former KSU leader Auguster Jyrwa has decided to leave the Congress and join the United Democratic Party (UDP).
Jyrwa had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 MDC elections on a Congress ticket after he was defeated by UDP candidate Paul Lyngdoh from Jaiaw constituency.
Jyrwa’s decision to leave the Congress may not a surprise, especially when speculations are rife about suspended Congress MLA from West Shillong Mohendro Rapsang contesting in the upcoming elections on an NPP ticket.
The former KSU leader will formally join the UDP on Thursday.
