15 years of RI for man who raped 9-year-old girl

SHILLONG, Oct 20: The District and Sessions Court, West Jaintia Hills, on Thursday convicted one Donbor Syngkli for raping a nine-year-old girl and sentenced him to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 50,000 only for an offence punishable U/S 376 (2) (a) (f) IPC and five years’ imprisonment for an offence punishable U/S 506 (Part II) IPC. Both sentences to run concurrently, the court said.
An FIR in this regard was received on November 6, 2007 and subsequently a case was registered with Jowai Police Station.
