Webinar on e-waste in city

SHILLONG, Oct 20: A webinar was organised non e-waste by the Inner Wheel Club of Pine City Shillong and Rotary Club of Cherry Blossom Shillong in association with Hulladek, an organisation which specializes in management of electronic waste, organised a webinar on e-waste.
The webinar aimed at spreading awareness on the meaning of electronic waste and the proper means of disposing it.An e-waste collection drive has been initiated by the clubs in the city. E-waste comprises electronic items which are no longer being used due to their malfunction or outdated models.
People have been urged to donate e-waste and not dispose them randomly. “Such electronic items are composed of heavy metals, which if not scraped and treated properly, leach down to our soil making it hazardous and if incinerated, pollutes the air,” the clubs said in a statement. y
