Governor extends Diwali greetings

SHILLONG, Oct 23: Celebrating his first Diwali in the capacity of the Governor of Meghalaya, BD Mishra has conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of the state and has expressed hope that the festival will usher in peace, prosperity and joy.
In a statement issued here, the Governor stressed on the importance of a pollution-free Diwali celebration and urged people to shun the use of loud crackers to minimise noise pollution and the emission of poisonous gases. “Following the guidance from our apex leadership for ‘Swachh Bharat’, we must, this Diwali, ensure ‘Shant Bharat’ as well,” the Governor appealed in his message.

West Shillong MLA Mohendro Rapsang has sent warm wishes to the people on the occasion of Diwali.
Meanwhile, the Urdu Society of India, Shillong, has conveyed its greetings to all the citizens on the occasion. “May this Deepawali bring prosperity, joy and unity among all of us,” the organisation said in a statement issued here.
