NONGSTOIN, Oct 24: A 40-year-old man, who had gone for bird hunting along with his friends on Sunday, was found dead in Patharumlang forest in West Khasi Hills.
The victim, identified as Prestarius Thongni, is suspected of being shot at by unknown miscreant(s).
According to police, Thongni and his two friends had gone to Patharumlang forest in Patharkhnang village on Sunday to hunt birds with their catapult.
On reaching the forest, the trio had split up in order to look for birds.
It was at around 4:30 pm, Thongni’s friends heard a gunshot in the jungle. However, they did not heed the same under the impression that some people must be hunting animals in the jungle.
However, following the hunt, Thongni did not turn up for the rendezvous he was supposed to, unlike his friends.
The duo then went looking for Thongni only to find him lying dead and suspected of being shot at by unknown person(s).
