NONGPOH, Oct 25: A girl was rescued from being kidnapped on Monday as she managed to inform her friends and relatives about the purported ill motive of her brother-in-law, Finance Chester Pariong, who was allegedly abducting her as she was travelling from Kynshi to Mairang in a tourist car (ML 05 U 2717), driven by the brother-in-law
The team of police personnel from Umiam Police Station intercepted the vehicle at Lad Umsaw.
According to the police, Pariong planned to abduct the girl by taking her to Shillong via road from Mawmawram which connects to Lad Umsaw in Ri-Bhoi.
However, smelling a rat, the girl decided to inform few of her friends and relatives about her situation.
They then managed to get her location and took the matter to Umiam Police.
After rescuing the girl and apprehending the alleged abductor, the Umiam police handed over Pariong to Mairang police.
