SHILLONG, Oct 27: The Meghalaya International Exporters Chamber of Commerce (MIECC), on Wednesday, met Chairman of Land Ports Authority of India, Aditya Mishra, during the inspection of the ongoing proposed Integrated Check Post (ICP) and accommodation for staff meant for ICP at Dawki.
The project’s estimated cost is Rs 250 crore and the ICP is expected to be operational within this financial year.
The work of the ICP, nonetheless, had started in 2019 but it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the meeting with Mishra, the members of the MIECC said that they had pushed for improvement of the road, mobile network and electricity connection before the ICP is made operational. “We are happy to get a positive response on our suggestion,” the MIECC said in a statement.
According to MIECC, Mishra also agreed to demolish the shed near the residence of its member, Dolly Khonglah, and provide a parking space for the trucks to ease the problem of traffic congestion.
The MIECC said that the Chairman of Land Ports Authority of India has assured to cooperate with the exporters when it comes to any problem relating to trade activities at the Land Custom Station in Dawki.
