NONGSTOIN, Nov 6: The construction work of the two-lane road project from Nongstoin-Rambrai-Kyrshai-Chaygoan Phase-1 has begun with widening and expansion under way.
According to site engineer of the National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), Robertson Bamon, almost 75% of the earth cutting and widening is complete.
Bamon said that metalling and blacktopping work is expected to begin in some parts of Nongstoin town by the end of this year.
It was also informed that the project is expected to be completed in 2024.
Jharkhand-based Spica Projects and Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, which has been entrusted with the project, is said to have been contributing to the villagers and the Dorbar Shnong in many activities. The company is currently helping the Dorbar Shnong Tiehsaw with dumping and filling of soil for the improvement of the playground.
Meanwhile, Headmen of Tiehsaw village M Dkhar extended gratitude to the Jharkhand-based company for their contribution to the village.
He has urged the villagers to cooperate with the company for the smooth functioning of the construction work.
Dkhar also extended his gratitude to the local MLA of Nongstoin Macmillan Byrsat for opposing the plan to shift the starting point 0+335Km (Nongstoin) to 5+400Km (Mawrusyiar) by the NHIDCL.
“The local MLA has requested the PWD Minister to take up the matter with the NHIDCL authority so as to ensure that the upgradation of the road project will start from the original point that connects New Nongstoin – Tiehsaw – Mawrusyiar village” he added.
