BSF eases woes of EJH village locals

SHILLONG, Nov 8: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya, in collaboration with the civil administration, has constructed a bamboo bridge over a stream, mitigating the problems of the residents of Huroi village, who were having a hard time commuting to other parts of the district.
According to a statement, following the construction of the bamboo bridge, the village will now be connected to other parts of East Jaintia Hills.
The bamboo bridge was jointly inaugurated on Tuesday by East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Barnwal and BSF DIG SHQ Jowai, Sandeep Rawat.
“The said bridge was very much needed since long by the villagers and they appreciated the initiative taken by the BSF and civil administration for construction of the bridge and have requested to construct similar type bridges on other streams also,” the BSF said in a statement.
“The BSF is trying to rope in business houses for funding such project under CSR and has suggested various projects for uplift of border populace to these business houses,” it added.
