National Lok Adalat settles over 200 cases

SHILLONG, Nov 12: Across all districts in the state, as many as 785 pre-litigation cases and 454 pending cases were taken up for settlement in the National Lok Adalat on Saturday, which was organised by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA).
Out of a total of 1,239 cases which were taken up, 216 cases were settled for an amount of Rs 1.33 crore.
The National Lok Adalat was held under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and under the patronage of the Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya, and Patron-in-Chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA), Justice Sanjib Banerjee, and under the supervision of Justice HS Thangkhiew, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya, and Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, according to a statement issued here on Saturday.
