Shillong, Nov 15: Abhishek Kumar’s five-wicket haul for Meghalaya went in vain as the team lost by 164 runs to Assam in their Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Kolkata, on Tuesday.
Kumar’s figures read 5/41 as Assam were restricted to 221/9 in 50 overs after they won the toss and batted first. Meghalaya’s other successful bowlers were Chirag Khurana 2/37, Sanvert Kurkalang (1/8) and Dippu Ch Sangma (1/39).
The chase was difficult for Meghalaya, with only two batters able to get into double figures (Khurana 23 and Dippu 13) as the team were bundled out for 57.
Meghalaya’s next match is against Vidarbha on Thursday.
