TURA, Nov 16: Days after retired deficit schoolteachers petitioned Chief Minister Conrad Sangma for release of death-cum-retirement gratuity (DCRG) as per the recommendations of the 5th Pay Commission, the deficit teachers from Garo Hills have now asked the state government to fulfil various pending demands that were raised along with their counterparts from Khasi-Jaintia Hills recently.
In a statement, the deficit teachers, under the banner of Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers’ and Employees’ Association, acknowledged the state government for approving the Meghalaya State Education Commission.
The deficit teachers, however, sought that all pending demands made by them be fulfilled at the earliest.
“We are sad to say that despite several rounds of talks and meetings with the government, all of which ended in promises, all of our demands are yet to be fulfilled. We would greatly appreciate it if the government could fulfil the same at the earliest,” they said.
Some of the demands of the deficit teachers include immediate payment of pending arrears in the revised pay, enhancement of DCRG from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, implementation of modified ACPS for deficit schoolteachers, finalisation of service rules and social security benefits for retired schoolteachers.
