The familiar pink is back
Winter is here are so are the pink blossoms in the city. Against the backdrop of an azure sky, the cherry blossoms are looking stunning and mesmerising all and sundry. Scenes of citizens and tourists standing on the roadside and snapping pictures of the pink blossoms are common these days.
The cherry blossoms in November and December in the city are a sight to behold for sore eyes. The many shades of pink bring a welcome relief to the tousled urban disarray dotting the pine city. Like a reptilian, Shillong sheds its skin and transforms itself from being the Scotland of the East to the Land of the Rising Sun. The unparalleled beauty of the exquisite pink cherry blossoms has turned the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival into a sought after event. This year’s line-up features events as diverse as literary events to celebration of food and music and the typical indulgences characteristic of the pre-winter and winter season in Shillong.
So gear up for the event later this week and “look on the pink side of life” that this city has on offer.

ERROR! Now you can get yourself vaccinated “for” COVID-19 and not “against” it. This hoarding at a location in the city encourages people to come forward to get vaccinated. Instead of focussing on
the typographical error, let’s draw our attention to the number of people that at present are absolutely unbothered about getting vaccinated while the authorities still bring to our attention the need to get inoculated. So the question that needs answering is: Have we really defeated the pandemic? (ST)
