Unceremonious welcome for CM
Pressure group members led by the HYC greeted Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his cabinet colleagues with sloganeering and a garland of slippers at Mukroh when the he was leading the entourage on his way to meet the family of the victims. HYC general secretary Roy Kupar Synrem said they confronted the CM on the middle of the road and asked him about the steps being taken following the incident to ensure that justice is served to the families of those killed in the Assam police firing.
WJH admin orders probe
The West Jaintia Hills district administration has instituted a magisterial inquiry to probe into the Mukroh firing incident. The inquiry will be headed by Additional District Magistrate PK Boro who will be assisted by Executive Magistrate W Kharbuli.
Lahkmen asked to quit
UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh on Wednesday asked the Home Minister and party MLA, Lahkmen Rymbui, to step down owning moral responsibility for the Mukroh incident. Lyngdoh told reporters that he (Rymbui) has taken oath as a minister to protect the country and the state but has failed miserably to perform his duties under the oath.
