SHILLONG, Nov 30: The National People’s Party is unperturbed by the exit of its two sitting and is taking reports of desertion of a third MLA lightly. NPP state president WR Kharlukhi on Wednesday confirmed that one more MLA will desert the party but the NPP is all set to gain eight sitting MLAs, including two from the Trinamool Congress.
Kharlukhi said the exodus of the three sitting MLAs was a known fact and had not come as a surprise. He was buoyed over the fact that his party was set to gain more than it was losing.
As per reports, Phulbari MLA SG Esmatur Mominin is all set to quit the NPP and join the TMC.
Raksamgre MLA Benedic R Marak and Selsella MLA Ferlin CA Sangma had recently submitted their resignation to Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh and are all set to don the saffron jersey.
The NPP state chief, however, refused to divulge the names of the eight MLAs who are slated to join the party in December of January.
However, a source close to the party revealed that Mendipathar MLA Marthon Sangma and Tikrikilla MLA Jimmy Sangma are likely to switch over from the Trinamool to the NPP.
The other six MLAs who are likely to join the NPP include PDF MLAs Jason Sawkmie Mawlong (Umsning) & Hamletson Dohling (Mylliem), suspended Congress legislators Ampareen Lyngdoh (East Shillong), Mohendro Rapsang (West Shillong) & Kimfa S Marbaniang (Rambrai-Jyrngam) and HSPDP MLA Samlin Malngiang (Sohiong).
