SHILLONG, Dec 7: A day after the United Democratic Party (UDP) announced its first list of 32 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections, the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) on Wednesday made it clear party tickets will be provided to the ones with winnability factor.
“As a party, we are planning to put up many candidates. But we will be happy to give tickets to the ones who have got strong chances to win,” PDF president Gavin M Mylliem said here on Wednesday.
Informing that interested candidates from the party can put up their applications from December 12 onwards, Mylliem said the party will soon release its first list of candidates for the Assembly elections.
When asked if two sitting MLAs, viz. Jason S Mawlong (Umsning) and Hamletson Dohling (Mylliem) are planning to join the National People’s Party (NPP), Mylliem said there is no official communication from the zonal committees that the two are deserting the party.
