Doc dead, child hurt after vehicle falls into gorge

SHILLONG, Dec 8: A four-wheeler on Wednesday fell into a gorge in West Jaintia Hills, leaving a doctor dead and his two-year-old daughter injured.
The headman of Chyrmang had informed the police the accident took place on Chyrmang-Iongnoh road on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, who was driving the car, has been identified as Dr Sanjoy Shylla of Wahiajer, West Jaintia Hills.
It may be mentioned that the vehicle had plunged into the gorge while it was proceeding from Chyrmang towards Jowai via Syntu Ksiar road.
It was after this the villagers rescued the girl and rushed her to Ialong Civil Hospital. She was later discharged after being provided first-aid.
The doctor was also shifted to Ialong Civil Hospital. However, he was declared brought dead.
