MAWKYRWAT, Dec 11: Ahead of the Assembly elections, the Meghalaya Trinamool Congress has made a clarion call for the rejection of ‘businessmen’ and election of ‘leaders’ by the electorates of the state.
Speaking during a public meeting organised by the Mawkyrwat Block TMC at Tynnai village in South West Khasi Hills, TMC general secretary Dr. Fabian Lyngdoh said, “We have seen that presently our ‘Jaitbynriew’ has no leader. Earlier, we had many great leaders like BB Lyngdoh, PG Marbaniang and others who were the heroes of the Hill State Movement because during that time, we had elected ‘leaders’. Somehow, we have started to elect ‘businessmen’ now.”
“Right now, we really need leaders to lead our state as unfortunate incidents have taken place in different parts of our borders. Right now I don’t see any leader among Khasi MLAs, and all of them are puppets of our Garo friends who know how to elect the leaders,” Dr. Lyngdoh added.
Others who were part of the programme include Sounder Strong Cajee, B Lyngdoh, among other supporters of the TMC.
