SHILLONG, Dec 14: NPP sitting MLA from Phulbari SG Esmatur Mominin, who has been denied a ticket by the party, has said that the attitude of the NPP will haunt the party in the upcoming Assembly elections, especially in Garo Hills.
It may be mentioned that the National People’s Party (NPP) has allotted party ticket to AT Mondal from Phulbari and not to its sitting MLA SG Esmatur Mominin.
“I have been deserted and betrayed, and I never wanted to leave the party. But it is a fact that I was annoyed with some activities of the party,” Mominin said, adding that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, while disregarding the sentiments of the people, had decided to give as many as 12 Garo villages to Assam.
Mominin also said that another thing that exasperated him was the sell-off of 70 bigha of land under B-Mahal to an agency from outside.
When the matter was enquired, the CM said that he has no knowledge about it and it was done by District Council — but the District Council is being headed by NPP itself, Mominin said.
Admitting that there has been a lot of corrupt practices within the government and they go uninvestigated, Mominin said that the attitude of the NPP will haunt the party in the upcoming elections, especially in Garo Hills region.
Mominin also informed that his supporters are asking him to join the Trinamool Congress. “I am going to take a final call on the matter by January 10,” he said.
It may be mentioned that apart from Mominin, Ferlin Sangma was also denied ticket by the NPP, following which she joined the BJP on Wednesday.
