If construction work doesn’t begin in a month, destroy foundation stone: Dy CM

NONGPOH, Dec 15: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has, after laying the foundation stone for a road construction in Ri-Bhoi, asked the locals to destroy the same if the construction work does not commence within a month.
Tynsong on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 2.5-km road from NH-6 to Umskun.
The aforesaid road has been sanctioned from the General Scheme at an amount of Rs 442.45 lakh.
The foundation stone-laying programme was also attended by Umsning MDC Macdalyne Sawkmie Mawlong, Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Arpit Upadyaya, PWD officials, local leaders from Umskun village, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Tynsong said it is a red-letter day for the residents of Umskun and its adjoining area since the long-pending road project will be started soon.
He said the state government, in the last four years, has taken various initiatives for improvement of various sectors in the state.
He also expressed hope that the state government would be able to solve the long-pending interstate border issue with Assam for the betterment of future generations.
Assuring the people of Umskun that the construction work of the road will commence within one month, Tynsong also asked the locals to destroy the foundation stone if the same does not come to pass.
