MoU-signing
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Vikas Trust, Bhubaneswar, and Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, ICAR-RC NEH, Umiam, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack, ICAR-CIFA, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, and Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar, during a programme in the city. According to a statement, the MoU was inked as part of 12th Research Council and 8th Extension Education Meeting at College of Post-Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Umiam, on Saturday. “This MoU will bring upliftment of the rural people in the country, making the people independent and self-reliant,” the statement said.
Awareness
The Research Extension Centre (REC), Shillong, in coordination with Sericulture & Weaving department, organised an awareness programme on Friday at Saitsama village in West Jaintia Hills. According to a statement, the programme was attended by around 50 sericulture farmers as well as officials from the REC, Shillong. During the programme, the farmers were asked to take up both spring and autumn crops for better generation of income and were educated on various cultivation practices such as importance of disinfection and maintenance of hygiene in rearing, chawki rearing technology, significance of maintaining temperature and humidity inside rearing house during late-age rearing, et al.
Programme
The Mising Students’ Union (MSU), Shillong, celebrated its 25th foundation day on December 14 in the city. According to a statement, the programme was attended by members of the Assamese community of Shillong from different fields as well as the Mising students.
Function
Shillong Shreshtha Sammilani on Friday organised its annual function at Shillong Bangiya Sahitya Parishad auditorium, during which the second edition of its mouthpiece, viz. ‘CHARAIBETI’ was unveiled. A cultural programme was also organised on the occasion.
Cleaning drive
The Dorbar Shnong of Mawlai Nongpdeng will hold its annual cleaning drive from 8 am onwards on Monday.
