Toney charged with more violations
LONDON, Dec 21:Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been charged by the English Football Association with 30 more breaches of betting rules.Toney, who is third in the Premier League with 10 goals this season, was charged in November with 232 alleged breaches between 2017 to 2021.The West London club said it was informed by the governing body of the additional alleged breaches.“Our private discussions with Ivan and his legal representatives on this matter continue,” the club said in a brief statement on Tuesday.Toney has until Jan. 4 to provide a response. Delhi to host Asian Wrestling C’ship
NEW DELHI,Dec 21:The 2023 senior Asian Championship will be held in New Delhi from March 28 to April 2, announced the United World Wresting (UWW) which has also allowed a two-kilogram weight tolerance for wrestlers at Ranking Series events from the next year.The Asian Championship will be held in New Delhi for the second time in three years. The Indian capital had hosted the tournament in February 2020. The 2kg weight tolerance was approved by the UWW Bureau on Monday when it met to finalise the calendar for 2023 (PTI)
Viacom18 to broadcast 2024 Paris Olympics
NEW DELHI, Dec 21: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Wednesday that Viacom18 (Viacom18 Media Private Limited) has secured the exclusive media rights to broadcast the 2024 Paris Olympic Games across India and the subcontinent.“Fans across India and the Subcontinent will be able to witness the magic of the Olympic Games through this partnership with Viacom18. Argentina fans burn coffin with Mbappe’s face
BUENOS AIRES, Dec 21: Argentina fans are known for being uber passionate when it comes to football but some feel as though a mark was overstepped when it came to their Mbappe gesture. A viral video shared on social media showed a group holding up a coffin which contained a cross and a picture of France’s talisman.It was set alight as fans jumped up and down and chanted. The clip was posted by Get French Football news, with the caption: “Argentinians with a lovely 24th birthday present for Kylian Mbappé here.” Mbappe scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final, the first to do so since Geoff Hurst in 1966 – and yet he still ended up on the losing side.He also put another penalty past Emiliano Martinez in the shoot-out, though misses from Kingsley Coman and Aurelien Tchouameni meant the trophy went to Argentina for the first time since 1986. ATK Mohun Bagan sign defender Slavko Damjanovic
NEW DELHI, Dec 21: Indian Super League (ISL) club ATK Mohun Bagan on Wednesday confirmed the acquisition of Montenegrin defender Slavko Damjanovic.Damjanovic has previous ISL experience from his time with Chennaiyin FC during the Hero ISL 2021-22 season. He joins the Mariners from Serbian club Novi Pazar. With ATK Mohun Bagan’s squad being ravaged by injuries this season, the Mariners will hope that the addition of Damjanovic will add solidity to their backline.”“The Serbian Wall is here!
