SPTS buses ordered not to drive towards PB, Motphran

SHILLONG, Dec 21: In what can be termed as a frantic approach to address the “chronic” traffic problem in parts of Shillong, all Shillong Public Transport Services (SPTS) buses have been ordered to stop plying towards Police Bazar and Motphran area with effect from Friday.
This order was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, Isawanda Laloo, as per the recommendations of the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority and the Shillong Traffic Police.
The DC further stated that the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) will convene a meeting with all concerned operators/associations and Meghalaya Urban Development Authority to deliberate over the alternative routes.
