SHILLONG, Dec 23: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya troops on Thursday foiled a smuggling attempt and confiscated cosmetics and clothing items worth Rs 21 lakh along the Indo-Bangladesh border area in East Khasi Hills.
According to a statement, unknown miscreants, who were smuggling the consignment to the neighbouring country, were intercepted by the BSF troops, following which they ran towards Bangladesh, abandoning the consignment.
The seized items were later handed over to the Customs Office in Pynursla for further action.
It is pertinent to note that the BSF Meghalaya has, so far in 2022, seized cosmetics and clothing items worth Rs 3.30 crore.
