SHILLONG, Dec 29: Adelbert Nongrum, the lone KHNAM legislator from North Shillong, on Thursday said he will join the Voice of the People Party (VPP) in January.
Nongrum said he wants to complete some pending assignments before joining the VPP.
“It will be the right step to begin my fresh political journey in the New Year,” he said.
Replying to a query, Nongrum said he chose the VPP since it was a new party with no past track record.
“I am convinced that the VPP will be voicing issues which are in the best interest of the people of the state,” he said.
He, however, said he is unsure if he has to resign from the Assembly before joining the VPP since he is the lone MLA of the party. “I will take a call on whether to resign or not once the date of joining the VPP is finalised,” he added.
