SHILLONG, Jan 2: After a nine-day holiday, government offices officially reopened in the state on Monday, albeit the response from the employees was lukewarm.
Visuals from the state capital also illustrated clearly that Shillong is yet to get out of the holiday mood.
Meagre attendance was recorded in government offices, including Secretariat, which had been closed since December 24 on account of Christmas and New Year.
City roads also continued to breathe easy on Monday with mild vehicular movement, while Shillong Traffic Police (STP) personnel continued to discharge their regular duty, albeit on the deserted roads.
The attendance in government offices was scanty with the attendance of only a few employees; scenes were no different in the Secretariat with only a few ministers attending the office after the holiday season.
