NPP’s Mominin resigns as MLA, to join TMC today

SHILLONG, Jan 4: After being snubbed by the National People’s Party, Phulbari MLA SG Esmatur Mominin on Wednesday tendered his resignation as MLA. He submitted his resignation to Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh.
Mominin is likely to join the Trinamool Congress on Thursday and contest the polls from Phulbari on a TMC ticket.
The NPP has announced the name of former Congressman and Assembly Speaker Abu Taher Mondal as its candidate from Phulbari.
NPP legislators Benedic R Marak and Ferlin CA Sangma and TMC’s Himalaya M Shangpliang along with Independent MLA Samuel Sangma joined the BJP.
Two suspended Congress MLAs — Ampareen Lyngdoh (East Shillong), Mohendro Rapsang (West Shillong) and Kimfa S Marbaniang (Rambrai Jyrngam) — have joined the NPP.
