SHILLONG, Jan 6: In a major boost to the Congress, many leaders of the NPP, UDP, and BJP joined the Sutnga-Saipung Block Congress Committee when party workers of Elaka Sumer, Sutnga and Nongkhlieh convened a meeting on Friday.
Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and party candidate from Sutnga-Saipung Vincent H Pala formally welcomed Thijlang Shyrmang, who was the president of NPP Sutnga Block, in the party.
Shyrmang has also been appointed as the District President of East Jaintia Hills Congress Committee.
During the induction of leaders into the party, Pala said there is a new wave of support for the grand-old party in Jaintia Hills this time round, while also informing the leaders that the next meeting will be held for Narpuh Elaka and Biate area separately.
