SHILLONG, Jan 6: TMC leader Mukul Sangma on Friday questioned Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his claim that the Special Branch SP of Assam Police had issued the church scan letter without his knowledge.
Referring to the letter seeking information on religious conversion and the number of churches established in the past one year in Assam, Mukul questioned the law-and-order status in the neighbouring state where the CM had no knowledge of such wrongdoings.
“Has any chief minister ever taken cognizance of any decision taken by government employees which is in deviation of the government policy?” Mukul questioned.
Expressing concern over the attack on Christians across the country, Mukul said the crucial issue at present is to ensure that personal liberty is not infringed upon by any policy decision or any legislative attempts by political party in the country.
