Meghalaya govt effects major reshuffle in state police force

Shillong, Jan 9: Meghalaya government today carried out a major reshuffle in the state police department in the ranks of SP and DSP in the poll-bound state well before the poll code of conduct gets enforced. Assembly election in the state is due early this year.

According to a notification issued by the Home (Police) Department of the state, Dr Raghavendra Kumar M.G, IPS, commandant 4th MLP Battalion, Sophian has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police (SP), EKH in place of Sylvester Nongtnger, MPS, who has been transferred and posted as SP, F&ES Shillong replacing Spill Thamar, MPS who has been transferred and posted as Chief Security Officer, MePDCL.

Herbert G Lyngdoh, IPS, SP, West Khasi Hills, has been transferred and posted as ST, Anti-infiltration Directorate, Meghalaya, Shillong.

Vivek Syiem, IPS, SP, Shillong City has been transferred and posted as Assistant Inspector General (AIG) (Law and Order), Meghalaya.

Nangkiew K Syiem, IPS, chief security officer, MePDCL, has been transferred and posted as AIG (R), replacing Darwin M Sangma, MPS who has been transferred as posted as SP, West Khasi Hills.

Ringrang T G Momin, MPS, SP, Anti-infiltration Directorate, Tura, has been transferred and posted as SP (City), Shillong.

Pherbak Singh Marwin, MPS, Assistant Commandant, Ist MLP Battalion, Mawiong, has been transferred and posted as Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Mawshynrut, West Khasi Hills.

Pynhunlung Manik Syiem, MPS, DSP (Security Wing), SB, Shilling has been transferred and posted as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sohra, East Khasi Hills district.
