Jio’s True 5G services launched in Guwahati

Guwahati, Jan 10: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday launched Jio’s True 5G services during a programme at Janata Bhawan here.

Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Sarma termed the launch historic and the beginning of a new era of mobile connectivity.

“The True 5G launch has opened limitless opportunities for the people of Assam and this will result in revolutionary transformation in every sector of the state’s economy and social life,” he said.

The chief minister also congratulated Team Jio Assam for the launch of 5G services in Guwahati after the successful launch of 5G services in India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently.

“Apart from their existing investment of Rs 9500 crore, Jio has additionally invested over Rs 2500 crore for work in progress for deploying the 5G network in Assam. This shows Jio’s immense commitment towards Assam’s development,” Sarma said.

He also expressed hope that Jio True 5G services would be made available in every town and block of Assam in a speedy manner.

The chief minister also thanked chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Limited Mukesh Ambani for his benevolent support to Assam during floods and the COVID pandemic.

“The investment by Reliance Industries in Assam gives a significant push to development in the state,” he said.
