MAWKYRWAT, Jan 13: In a curious case from South West Khasi Hills, two persons from Wahkaji village, located 50 km from Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills, have filed an FIR against unknown persons who have allegedly spread misinformation about the duo, accusing them of being thieves and menshohnoh (keepers of U Thlen, believed to be a serpent which thrives on human blood).
The duo — Dossli Thongni and Johnny Thyrniang — said a notice was put up on social media with their fake signatures.
In the notice, it was announced that they would steal the cows in the village, besides briefly mentioning the crimes allegedly committed by the duo.
It claimed that the two were dangerous horse, cow and goat thieves and smugglers operating in the Mariem, Umdohlun and Wahkaji area of South West Khasi Hills as well as the Byrki area of West Khasi Hills. It also mentioned that they had accomplices from Umdohlun, Mawpat and Byrki village.
Speaking to media persons after the FIR was registered, Thongni and Thyrniang said that they were shocked after learning about the notice, which, they said, was also displayed on the roadside.
They said the incident has triggered fear in them even as they clarified that they had no feud with anybody.
