SHILLONG, Jan 14: As many as 30 companies of central armed police forces (CAPF) have arrived in poll-bound Meghalaya.
Director-General of Police LR Bishnoi on Saturday told reporters that the state had sought 119 companies of CAPF to ensure a free and fair election process.
Bishnoi said the situation was peaceful in the disputed border areas between Assam and Meghalaya and police personnel deputed in the border outposts were keeping a tab on the situation.
He also said that a series of meetings at different levels of the police establishments of both states were held following the Mukroh killings on November 22 last year.
