SHILLONG, Jan 15: Before getting election mode, the United Democratic Party (UDP) will be felicitating the statehood leaders and volunteers from East Khasi Hills on Monday.
“The decision to felicitate the statehood leaders and volunteers is a way to seek their blessing before the party starts its election campaign across the state in full swing,” a senior party leader said on Sunday.
The UDP leader said that the party has its roots in the All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC), which had spearheaded the statehood movement.
The party will felicitate only a handful of the statehood leaders and volunteers from East Khasi Hills due to paucity of time. “We will see if we are able to felicitate statehood leaders from the other districts of Khasi Hills as well,” he informed.
