SHILLONG, Jan 16: In a renewed attempt to revive the Congress fortune in the state, the party chief Vincent H Pala has again played the “anti-Christian” card against BJP and its coalition partners.
In a frontal attack on these political opponents on Monday, Pala urged people not to vote for these political parties who are blatantly working together with the BJP in the upcoming polls.
The MPCC chief made this remark while speaking during a meeting with the members of the Lyngkhoi Presbyterian Church and Dorbar Shnong of Lyngkhoi village on the preparation for the Synod Service of the Jingiaseng Samla KJP Synod Sepngi slated to be held at on February 16.
“There is a sense of fear among the Christians across the country due to frequent incidents of attack on Christians and churches. We have seen what had happened in Assam and Chhattisgarh. The Assam Government is seeking information on the number of Christians and its churches in the State,” Pala who is also the MP Lok Sabha from Shillong reminded.
With a view to identifying himself with the Christian cause, the MPCC chief said that he would be acceding to the request of the church leaders to help in repairing of the 1.5 km road leading to the ground where the Synod service will be held shortly.
He however assured that he would readily provide financial assistance on other requirements of the church to hold the Synod service.
Pala said that the state government should have created a corpus fund for helping the religious groups and associations for the construction and repair of the road if there are big gatherings or services of any of the churches.
