Tura, Jan 19: In view of the upcoming Assembly elections, the West Garo Hills  (WGH) District Election Officer has directed all licensed arms holders from the district to deposit their arms to the nearest police stations, outposts and beat houses with immediate effect.

In an order issued here dated January 18, prohibition has also been issued on the carrying of licensed firearms with a view to maintain law and order and ensure the peaceful conduct of the elections.
