BJP will run govt: Kharkrang

SHILLONG, Jan 25: BJP Spokesperson, M Kharkrang on Wednesday said the saffron party will run the government in Meghalaya.
Speaking to media persons here, Kharkrang said that BJP-ruled states have prospered in the country and Assam is one of the finest examples of how quickly party-led governments are ensuring developments in their respective states.
“When we ask why Meghalaya is being deprived of development, we get the answer that because we have failed to bring a BJP government. This time, we will ensure that BJP runs the government here,” he said
When asked about the accusation of TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee’s dare that Meghalaya will not be ruled by Delhi or Guwahati if TMC comes to power, Kharkrang recalled that Meghalaya was ruled by Congress for a long time and there were Congress governments at the Centre.
“Does it mean that Meghalaya is being ruled from Delhi,” he said adding that it is better to be ruled by Delhi rather than being controlled by West Bengal.
Denying the allegations that Meghalaya will be ruled by Delhi or Guwahati, he said that the central government always supports the state in terms of infrastructure and finance. He also said that Meghalaya is a revenue-deficit state and it has to depend on the Centre.
Kharkrang also pointed out that the Centre has pumped in a lot of money even though the state is being ruled by the NPP and many funds here remain under-utilised and even the investments failed to bring the desired result.
