AFC praises ‘Vision 2047’
NEW DELHI, Jan 25: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John on Wednesday pledged the support of the Asian football governing body towards Indian football and praised AIFF’s ‘Vision 2047’ after meeting Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and other officials, here.The 62-year old, who has always taken a keen interest in the progress and promotion of Indian football, appreciated the manner in which Vision 2047 has been planned and hoped all stakeholders will work together to make it a success.He further promised full support from the Asian Football Confederation towards its implementation, and to build the capacity of Indian football to put its plans in motion. Milan lose again, thrashed 4-0
ROME ,Jan 25: Defending champion AC Milan was beaten 4-0 at Lazio in Serie A on Tuesday to extend the Rossoneri’s winless streak to five matches across all competitions.Mattia Zaccagni set up one goal then scored the other as Lazio moved into third.Zaccagni’s cross set up a goal for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic four minutes in at the Stadio Olimpico and Zaccagni then scored off a rebound in the 38th.Luis Alberto added a penalty for Lazio midway through the second half and Felipe Anderson scored in the 75th.Milan remained second, 12 points behind halfway leader Napoli. Woman files suit accusing Mike Tyson of rape in early 90’s
NEW YORK, Jan 25: A woman has filed a lawsuit accusing former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson of raping her sometime in the early 1990s after she met him at a nightclub in Albany, New York.The woman, who is suing for $5 million, said Tyson raped her in a limousine and that she has suffered from “physical, psychological and emotional injury” in the years since then.The woman’s affidavit does not provide a date for the attack but says only that it happened in the early 1990s – around the same time that beauty pageant contestant Desiree Washington said Tyson raped her in Indianapolis. Tyson was convicted of raping Washington on Feb. 10, 1992, and served three years in prison.The legal action in New York was filed under the state’s Adult Survivors Act, which gives sexual assault victims a one-year window to file lawsuits over assaults that happened years or even decades ago. MADRID, Jan 25: La Liga club Villarreal are on the verge of losing two international strikers in the coming days, with Arnaut Danjuma and Nicholas Jackson close to sealing moves to the Premier League.Danjuma is reported to be close to a loan move to Tottenham, despite having undergone a medical at Everton at the weekend.It looked as if the move to the Liverpool-based club had been agreed upon, but Tottenham have taken advantage of the chaos at Everton after Monday’s sacking of Frank Lampard as head coach and expressed interest before the loan deal was signed. Villarreal’s 21-year-old Senegal international Nicolas Jackson is also Premier League bound, with Jackson set to undergo a medical at Danjuma’s former club Bournmouth. IANS)
