BJP to name candidates for Meghalaya polls by Feb 2: Mawrie

Shillong, Jan 27: The state president of the BJP, Ernest Mawrie on Friday informed that the party would announce the names of its poll candidates within February 2.

Talking to reporters after the party’s State Election Committee meeting, Mawrie said that they had already prepared the list and it would be immediately sent to central party leadership in Delhi.

According to him, the Central Parliamentary Committee will meet on January 31 to take a final call of the party candidates for Meghalaya Assembly polls.

The BJP state president said that they will urge the party’s Central leadership to release the names of the party candidates at the earliest.

Mawrie also informed that party’s manifesto would also be released as soon as the party candidates were announced.

Meanwhile, he informed that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi would be among the 20-star campaigners of the party for the Assembly polls in the State.

Mawrie said that the Prime Minister would be addressing the election rally of the party in Shillong, Jowai and Tura adding that the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the state after February 10.

The other party leaders who will be campaigning for the party during the election in the State include Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh among others.
