400 gm heroin seized by joint team of Meghalaya Police, BSF

Shillong, Jan 30: Today, a joint team of West Garo Hills Police and  BSF detected 400 grams heroin worth approximately Rs 2 crore at Photamati Junction under Tikrikilla Police Station (44 – Raksamgre Assembly Constituency).

One person namely Zakir Hussain, (24), S/o Abdul Rahim, R/o Kusnimara PO/PS – Mankachar of district South Salmara, Assam has been arrested. He was travelling from Goalpara, Assam to Mankachar with the consignment.

The contraband has been seized as per procedure and a case is being registered. Investigation is on.

Apart from this, total cash amounting to Rs. 12,47,630 was also seized today by various naka teams all across the district.

Model Code of Conduct is being enforced strictly by security forces which has led to seizure of approx. 30000 litres of liquor worth approximately Rs 1 crore, cash seizure of more than 46 lakh and today’s huge seizure of contrabands in West Garo Hills district.
