Tura, Jan 31: In another blow to the Congress in Garo Hills, 19 members of the District Youth Congress (DYC) and Assembly Youth Congress (AYC) in West Garo Hills on Tuesday, resigned en masse from their posts as well as from the primary membership of the party.

In his letter of resignation to the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPYC), DYC General Secretary, Rakkam A Sangma cited the reason for the mass resignation as ‘unecessary influence of a few leaders of the high command regarding the allotment of party ticket for Garo Hills region namely-Salmanpara, Selsella and Kharkutta constituencies.
