M’laya suffer another loss, go down to Himachal

Shillong, Jan 31: Himachal Pradesh defeated Meghalaya by an innings and 124 runs in their U-25 Col CK Nayudu Trophy match in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Resuming play on the third day on 64/5 in their first innings, trailing Punjab’s 419/6 declared, Meghalaya were all out for 155.
Overnight batter Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva made 45 and he was given good company by Ram Gurung (17) and PM Santhosh (34).
Sachdeva and Santhosh put on 68 runs together in a very successful eighth wicket partnership.
Meghalaya was then made to follow on and were dismissed in their second innings for 140.
In the second innings, two early wickets pegged Meghalaya back but the team were able to find some runs through Swastic Chettri (17) and Kevin Christopher (37).
The latter was involved in a 55-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Joydeepan Deb (44), who at first played a supporting role to Christopher before taking the lead himself.
Meghalaya will next play Odisha from February 5.
