HSPDP releases poll manifesto

Shillong, Feb 2: The HSPDP on Thursday released its manifesto for the ensuing Assembly polls in the State.
The party president, KP Pangniang said that the party would continue with its demand for a separate Khasi-Jaintia State as per Article 371 of the Constitution.
He further said that the party would continue to oppose the extension of the railways to the state until an effective mechanism to deal with problem of influx and illegal immigrants is put in place in the state by the government.
Pangniang said that they would also continue to oppose any proposal for uranium mining in the State.
The HSPDP president further said that the party would strive for solving  the long pending inter-state boundary disputes with Assam.
The party also released the second list of poll candidates for the Assembly polls.
The four names that have featured in the second list include sitting party MDC, Martle N. Mukhim from Mawkynrew, veteran journalist Starfing Jove Langpe Pdahkasiej from Mawsynram, Wyraiwan Sohtun from Mawryngkneng and Sandondor Ryntathiang from Sohiong.
The HSPDP has, so far, released names of 11 poll candidates.
