SHILLONG, Feb 2: The Federation of Khasi States (FKS) has clarified that it has not authorised any of its members to speak on matters relating to Hima Mylliem or any other Himas.
The FKS has clarified this in the wake of a January 25 post on social media about John F Kharshiing’s press briefing on a document, which he had submitted to the KHADC EM in-charge Elaka, Jambor War, on the proposal to amend the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and Succession of Syiem, Deputy Syiem, Electors and Rangbah Shnong of Mylliem Syiemship) Act, 2007.
In a statement, FKS secretary, HL Ryntathiang, said that the Federation had decided to remove Kharshiing as the spokesperson of the FKS on August 12 last year.
“We also urge other members not to issue any press statement on any matters without the approval of the Federation,” Ryntathiang added.
It was also clarified that Kharshiing had addressed the press as a member of the group of residents of Hima Mylliem and not in the capacity of the spokesperson of FKS, as posted on social media.
It may be recalled that a group of residents of Hima Mylliem on January 25 had submitted an elaborate document to the KHADC on the proposal for amendment of the Mylliem Act.
