57 more candidates file nominations

SHILLONG/ TURA/ MAWKYRWAT/ NONGSTOIN/ NONGPOH, Feb 3: As many as 57 candidates filed their papers on the fourth day of filing of nominations on Friday.
Prominent among those who filed their nominations on Friday include Cabinet Minister Dasakhiatbha Lamare, Mohendro Rapsang, SG Esmatur Mominin, HDR Lyngdoh, Nehru Suting, Donkupar Massar.
In Garo Hills, 23 candidates filed their papers, the highest so far. The list included eight NPP candidates, six Congress candidates, two TMC candidates, two UDP candidates, one GNC candidate and 4 independents.
Those who filed their papers on Friday include Congress candidates Chireng Peter R Marak (Kharkutta), Timjim K Momin (Mendipathar), Tweel K Marak (Resubelpara), Brigady N Marak (Bajengdoba), Sayeedullah Nongrum (Mahendraganj) and Uttora G Sangma (Ampati), UDP’s Andreash Momin (Rongjeng) and Bipul Ch Sangma (Rangsakona), NPP candidates Limison D Sangma (Raksamgre), Jimmy D Sangma (Tikrikilla), Arbinstone B Marak (Selsella), Rakesh Sangma (Gambegre), Stevie M Marak (Ampati), Satto R Marak (Baghmara), Rakkam Sangma (Rongara – Siju) and Sengchim N Sangma (Chokpot), TMC candidates SG Esmatur Mominin (Phulbari) and Mohammed Mizanur Rahman Kazi (Rajabala), GNC’s Nikman Ch Marak (Chokpot) and independent candidates Noor Nongrum (Tikrikilla),
Diraj D Marak (Dalu), Kennethson Sangma (Dalu) and Nathawal S Marak (Baghmara).
Six candidates from South West Khasi Hills — two from Mawkyrwat and four from Ranikor — also filed their nominations at the DC’s office, Mawkyrwat.
Ranikor MLA and UDP’s Pius Marwein was the first candidate to file his nomination. Other candidates from Ranikor include Victorealness Syiemlieh (Congress) and two independents, Mighter Marwein and Krenath N Marak.
KHADC MDC and Congress candidate Carness Sohshang and NPP’s H Stalyne Diengdoh also filed their nominations for the Mawkyrwat seat.
In Ri-Bhoi, eight candidates from various constituencies and different political parties filed their nomination papers at the DC’s office, Nongpoh.
The candidates were NPP’s Sosthenes Sohtun (Jirang), Macdalyne S Mawlong (Nongpoh), Jason S Mawlong (Umsning), Shemphang Lyngdoh (Mawhati) and Damanbait Lamare (Umroi), HSPDP’s Primson Makdoh (Umsning) and PDF’s Donlang Sohkhlet (Umsning) and Adrian C Mylliem (Jirang).
In West Khasi Hills, sitting MLA of Nongstoin and NPP candidate Macmillan Byrsat filed his nomination before the returning officer of West Khasi Hills.
Accompanied by his family members and thousands of NPP supporters Byrsat took out a rally from his residence to the office of the DC on Friday.
KHADC MDC and Congress candidate Gabriel Wahlang also filed his nomination paper for the Nongstoin seat.
Three more candidates including NPP’s Kimfa S Marbaniang, Congress’s Goldenstar Nonglong and independent candidate RG Momin also filed their nominations for the Rambrai-Jyrngam seat.
