SHILLONG, Feb 3: The UDP on Saturday published the criminal antecedents of its candidate, Ashahel D Shira.
As required by law, the criminal antecedents will have to be widely publicised among voters and also the concerned party will have to justify why a candidate having criminal antecedents should be given a party ticket.
The declaration stated that Shira, a UDP candidate from Rajabala constituency, has a criminal case, the number of which is 27 (T) of 2014, which is pending in District and Sessions Court.
It was also informed that charges have been framed in the matter.
Earlier, the NPP had published the criminal antecedents of three of its candidates, including Ampareen Lyngdoh of East Shillong, Teiborlang Pathaw of Mawlai and Thomas Sangma of North Tura.
