SHILLONG, Feb 5: PDF supporters in Mawkynrew have cast aspersions on Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong over his alleged attempt to take credit for lifting the ban on fertilisers in the state. They have claimed that Tynsong has misled the people of the constituency to service his political interest.
Sordar of Thynroit village, Harkin Warjri said that Tynsong is taking credit on lifting of the ban on supply of fertilisers which was imposed in 2014.
The Sordar was speaking at a meeting of the office-bearers of the unit and circle of the PDF Zonal Committee Mawkynrew Constituency at Thangsning on Saturday.
“We all know that it was the efforts of Agriculture Minister and local MLA, Banteidor Lyngdoh that the ban was lifted. He (Lyngdoh) had even gone to Delhi to request to release the quota of fertilisers for Meghalaya,” Warjri said.
According to him, Tynsong had alleged that the local MLA had laid the foundation stone for upgrade of Jongksha PHC without any funds being earmark by the government.
He questioned as to why the Deputy CM had to file his nomination in Shillong when Pynursla has been upgraded to a Civil Sub Division. “This only shows that the civil sub division is yet to be functional since 2017,” he said.
Echoing similar views, former Congress leader Olet Kharsahnoh said Tynsong is telling lies since Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had assured to allocate funds for the upgrade of the PHC when he had inaugurated the indoor stadium at Jongksha.
“I will advise the Deputy CM not to interfere in matters of other constituencies. It is better for him to focus on issues of his own constituency,” Kharsahnoh said.
Speaking at the meeting earlier, Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh abstained from commenting on the criticism and remarks of his political opponents. “I have nothing to respond since the people of the constituency know the work that I have done in the past five years. It is the people who will decide if they would re-elect me,” Lyngdoh said.
