BSF seize fake Indian currency notes in EJH

Shillong, Feb 8: Troops of the BSF confiscated fake Indian currency notes of face value Rs 55,000 from the International Border in East Jaintia Hills (EJH) district of Meghalaya.

During the night hours on February 7, troops of 172 Battalion BSF detected some suspicious movement of miscreants coming from Bangladesh to India. Upon challenging, miscreants fled to Bangladesh taking advantage of darkness, hilly terrain and thick vegetation.

On searching the area, the BSF recovered a bag containing 105 Fake Indian currency notes in denomination of Rs 500. An FIR has been lodged at Umkiang Police Station and fake Indian currency was also handed over to Police. The fake currency recovered is of very low grade, probably locally printed in Bangladesh.
