Shillong, Feb 8: The State Congress on Wednesday maintained that the clash between the NPP and TMC supporters in Phulbari, West Garo Hills is a planned move of a certain  political party.

“I think this is planned by a certain political party or vested interest so that they get benefit out of it,” said State Congress Chief and MP, Vincent H Pala.

He said that political parties were always trying to pick up issues like the inter-state boundary, issues of the tribal identity and influx, similarly this issue is also designed with an intention to win the polls.

Reminding that he had visited the plain belt areas of Garo Hills during the recent by-polls, Pala said, ” Those areas are difficult areas. I have been there during the by-elections, and when people become very poor definitely during elections people will fight over small issues and things”.
